Our forefathers created a nation that its citizens might have “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”. Jesus said,” I came to give you life and life abundantly’. God’s goals for humanity and the goals of the United States constitution are mutually supportive. Christianity and the nation exist for the same purpose, That is, the well being of individuals. America thus established can hardly be anything less than Christian.
This is not to say that every citizen of the nation is himself a Christian—we clearly are not but the principals and values to which the country adheres find their source in the teachings of the bible and their purpose in the welfare if each citizen.
